What to expect, short version
- Unbiased reviews
- No personal opinions
- Videos of all criticism or praise
- Actually pointing out flaws
What to expect, long version
This website grew out of my frustration with soft and seemingly incorrect reviews of private servers. Often reviews compare servers to the average instead of to an ideal situation. A server is called “good” when it’s slightly better than average. The problem with this is of course that the average mangos server is really bad in a way that is not always immediately obvious but has a great impact on the way the game works. Worse still is that online commentary by players is usually carefully crafted to hide the flaws of their favorite server and to convince you to join them.
Instead I wanted to create unbiased reviews that do not rely on my opinion, since opinions are inherently biased. I have set out a list of things that are commonly broken and can be easily captured in short videos. A review consists simply of this list of videos, no opinionated commentary.
Why is server X not included?
I’m starting off with TBC servers that allow me to easily get a level where I can start testing. 1x servers are a lot harder to test. If you have any accounts that I can use please send a mail to wowcmp openmailbox.org. If desired I can make sure the characters identity is hidden in the videos.
Why don’t you show bug X or feature Y?
Because I’m not aware of it, because it requires circumstances that are harder to come by (such as a full raid) or because I’ve otherwise been unable to record it on the servers in the review. Suggestions and commentary are welcome, please mail me at wowcmp openmailbox.org.
